To Mrs. Melconian, Leon, Paola, Sonja, Dan, Malu, Mel, Kai, Emil, Quinn and Dane, we are broken hearted to learn of Mr. Melconian's passing and offer our deepest condolences. Mr. Melconian was absolutely amazing, from elegantly playing his violin, to doing backflips off the diving board at age 82 (the last time I saw him do it). He was one of those rare men with a presence that elicited spontaneous respect. We were fortunate to know him, and you were all blessed have him in your lives. With love, the Brackett family.

When I think of my dear Uncle Mel, a flood of memories comes rushing in—those legendary orange Hot Wheels tracks (wink wink), late-night snacks while watching a “nice Western”, and of course, his amazing fiddle playing that could charm even the grumpiest among us.
Uncle Mel was my gateway into Armenian culture. Because of him, I can drop eenchbes es? into a conversation and instantly become everyone’s long-lost cousin. Honestly, that one phrase has gotten me more high-fives, and hugs, than anything else I’ve ever said.
There were two things you could always count on with Uncle Mel: he never left you guessing about what was on his mind, it’s safe to say subtlety was not his love language. Secondly, you were always received with love, laughter, and a great big hug.
Uncle Mel was truly one of a kind—so funny, and fiercely loving. We were all lucky to have him in our lives, and his absence will be profoundly felt.

It is indeed sad news to learn of Mel’s death. It was our privilege to get to know him through our connection with Dan. Although the occasions were few, the memories of meaningful conversation—peppered with lots of laughs—will remain with us.
