Obituary of Audrey Gwendolene Freeman
With great sadness we share that Audrey Freeman passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Wednesday May 28th at the age of 86.
She was the most loving mother of daughter Jeanette (Stephen) and son Ian (Jennifer); proud grandmother of Hannah, Evan, Jerrid and Julian; and will be greatly missed by her sister Sheila. She is predeceased by her husband George, sisters Daphne (Klaus) and Doreen (Dave), and parents William and Agnes.
Audrey came to Canada in 1970 from England when she met the love of her life, George. They remained deeply in love and would often be seen holding hands together while walking the pier in Port Dalhousie. Audrey had many, many friends thanks to her gift of kindness, humour and selflessness. She took great joy in helping, and spent her life in service to others through her many volunteer activities and at her church. Without a doubt, her single greatest joy was her family whom she was so proud of, never missing an event for her grandchildren and deeply expressing her love at every opportunity. She was strong in her faith and was comforted knowing her journey will continue and looked forward to reuniting with George who surely was
there to greet her.
In keeping with her wishes, there will be no public service; a private cremation has taken place. In Audrey’s memory, she asked that you do an act of kindness for someone else and think of her; be it as simple as a friendly smile to a stranger, lending a helping hand, or a donation to your favourite cause. Help make the world a better place as Audrey tried to every day.
