Obituary of Daniel John Caron
Daniel John Caron (September 25, 1964 – May 23, 2025)
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Dan Caron, who peacefully departed this world on May 23, 2025, at age 60 in his home surrounded by his family.
Born on September 25, 1964, in St. Catharine’s, Dan was a loving husband to Linda (Ward) for 30 years and father to Kurtis (Miranda) and Trevor. He was predeceased by his father Jean Paul (2022). He is survived by his mother Madeline, brother Marc (Barbara), sisters Tammy-Lynn and Debbie. Dan had a large extended family, and many in laws, nieces, and nephews who will miss him dearly. Dan was a friend to many, including Lyndon Reashore and Chris Lucas who he considered to be like brothers.
Dan loved anything that required a challenge which led him to become an accomplished athlete in many sports including swimming and judo in his early years. He thrived to be the best at whatever he did. He would also love to challenge others to spontaneous push up challenges or arm wrestles (which he usually won). He looked forward to going on vacation yearly with family and friends where he sought out activities such as speed boating, ATVing, cliff jumping, zip lining, kayaking, scuba diving, horseback riding, and snorkeling. Afterwards, he would relax under the sun listening to the ocean and enjoying the surrounding nature. Unfortunately, antagonizing the monkeys on the resorts was also one of his favorite past times (although they were always rewarded well with a buffet of bananas in return).
He looked forward to the end of the summer when he would go on hunting and fishing trips with his boys and close friends. He would often plan his trips around making them as difficult as possible. He believed the more effort and challenging the trip was, the better reward you got. This meant the toughest routes and taking the longest portages to get to the places that no one else would go to, the heaviest backpacks, fighting through the rain and the cold, capsizing the canoe in the rapids, being eaten alive by bugs, and getting bear maced in the face (and walking it off). The night would end by sitting around the campfire eating the catch of the day (if he was lucky) drinking a beer and laughing with his boys. Ultimately the reward of each trip was creating a lifetime of lasting memories with his children, and he stated many times that these were some of the best days of his life. One of his most recent cherished memories was watching his new daughter, Miranda catching fish to ‘feed her family’ on last our trip together up north. He couldn’t have been more proud when she was the one to catch all the fish.
Most of all, he loved the 30 years he and his wife shared together. He enjoyed the simple things in life with her including drinking coffee on the back deck, taking longs walks with their dogs, campfires in the backyard, yearly vacations, weekend getaways, and game nights with close friends. He never missed an opportunity to spoil her, and he would always talk about how lucky he was to have her by his side.
Dan always put his mind to overcoming whatever life threw at him, including the many health issues he faced throughout the years. Through strength and determination, he made a miraculous recovery after 15 years only to deal with more adversity. Despite all of this, he continued to do the things he loved throughout his life.
Although being recently diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, he always put his family first. As a last gift to his family, three weeks prior to his death he took them all, on a final 14-day dream vacation to see the Mediterranean. Many long lasting and happy memories were made.
Cremation has taken place, as per Dan's wishes.
Ciao for now.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Pancreatic Cancer Canada would be appreciated.
