She was a devoted and loving grandmother to Tyler (Jessica), Morgan (Remi), Tiffany (Bryce), Sarah (Tilman), Caitlyn, Miles (Dini), Dylan and Reily. She also took great joy in her six great-grandchildren; Alex, Lydia, Lucas, Thea, Sam and Jakobe. Joan was predeceased by her parents Ed and Florence Danks, her nephew Greg Danks, many beloved aunts, uncles and cousins, as well as her former spouse and father of her children, Ken Dixon. Joan was a vibrant, social person who cherished time with friends and family. She loved a good game of cards and, in her later years, the casino became her favourite stomping ground. She had many dear friends in her condo community, whose companionship meant a great deal to her. A successful businesswoman, Joan owned and operated two businesses during her career. She first ran a shoe store in Ancaster and later founded Joan’s Trim and Lace, a thriving craft supply store. She was hardworking and entrepreneurial, with a passion for the business side of her ventures.
