Obituary of John Paul Korsmit
Korsmit, John Paul (JP)
Passed peacefully on Thursday, May 8, 2025 with his family by his side at Hospice Niagara, at the age of 62 years. Precious son of Marinus “Martin” and Geraldine “Gerry”.
Best friend and soulmate to his wife Diane for 38 years. Devoted, proud father of Zach (Jalina), Luke (Daniela), Laura (Alex) and Jennifer (Ryley). Excited grandfather to be. Dear brother of Marc (Jeanne),Mary “Mern” (David), Peter (Darlene) and Susie (Kenji). Favourite uncle of Emma, Graham, Joe, Ben (Jenn), Adam (Macarena), Alex (Chloe), Christian, Koji, Noah and Sydney. Son in law of Sandra and Denis, brother in law of Lisa and Jeff. He will be sadly missed by cousins, nieces, nephews, friends and to the many he coached and mentored.
We are heartbroken by the loss of our beloved JP.
JP was extraordinarily generous with his time and love, creating a beautiful family alongside his wife Diane. He made many sacrifices to give his family every opportunity to prosper. In the face of any problem, his children knew to “just call dad” and he would find a way to fix it. A reliable goofball, he brought light and laughter to the world.
Throughout his life, JP took on any project he was presented with. He was a jack of all trades and a master of many, capable of turning dreams into reality. He could always be found in his garage, music blasting, drinking a coca-cola as he planned the next build. No matter how busy his days were, he prioritized quality time and fun experiences with his family and friends. On top of that, he conquered marathons, coached athletes, raced cars, and volunteered for countless causes.
JP was a talented tool and die maker, highly regarded by his colleagues. He was connected to nature and animals, and found so much joy spending time outdoors at the cottage.
He was a man of faith, which provided comfort and strength to him throughout his life. To his last breath he remained an optimist, accepting what was to come for his body, believing in God and focusing on the love of the people around him.
