Lidio Venneri

Obituary of Lidio Venneri

We are sad to announce the passing of Lidio Venneri on Thursday, April 24, 2025 at St. Catharines, Ontario. Peacefully, he left this world in his 87th year to join his late wife Teresa (2023).

Lidio is survived and will be forever remembered by his sons Albert (Connie), David (Patricia) and his five grandsons, Tomas, Jack, Sam, Blake and Eric, who filled him with pride, especially at Sunday morning breakfasts.

He is also survived by siblings Anna (Joe) Roselli, Freddy (Judy) Venneri, Emma (Pietro) Nasato, Marcella (late Lenny) Serravalle and his sisters-in-law Grace (late Pacifico) Sirignano and Pauline (late Sam) Memme. Uncle Lidio will also have special place in the hearts of his 19 nieces and nephews.  Lidio is predeceased, as well, by his parents Alberto and Giovaninna, his sister Vanda (late Ralph) Guarasci, nephew Tom Roselli and sister-in-law Josie (late Wendell) Harper.

Born in Santo Stefano di Rogliano (Calabria) Italy, he immigrated to Canada in 1960.  Lidio lived a life of service to others and took great pride in his large family. He worked at the St. Lawrence Seaway for over 30 years.

His talents were as immense as his generosity. A master problem solver with an engineer's mind, he enjoyed sharing his 'handy-man' abilities to help others in times of need.

Lidio always enjoyed a round of golf with his wife and close friends. He took pride in his fruit trees, his garden and his rose bushes. He also maintained the traditions of many Italian immigrants making sausage, soppressata, tomato sauce, olives and then sharing his passions with family, friends and neighbours.  These are the things which gave him joy.

Our family gives special thanks to Drs. Chung, Rusnak & Levesque, the amazing nurses in the PCU at the St. Catharines Hospital and the staff and PSWs at Heatherwood Retirement Living.

In accordance with Lidio's wishes, a private service will be held for his immediate family. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to the Canadian Cancer Society.
