Obituary of John Clark Walker
It is with great sadness that family and friends announce the passing of John (Ian) Walker, whom God called home, on April 18, 2025. During his final hours, Ian was surrounded by his son Scott, his daughter Lee-Ann and her husband Bill, as well as many close friends, who have journeyed with Ian over the years.
Ian leaves behind, to grieve his loss, his 3 children, Lee-Ann Snow (Bill); James Scott Walker (Tina); Robert Craig Walker (Stephanie); 6 grandchildren: Rayah, Jenna, Taylor, Jacob, James and Thirsten; 3 great-grandchildren; Anayha, Mia and Eve; as well as nieces and nephews in Scotland. Ian is predeceased by his siblings Nancy, Jeanette, Alexander and Jim.
Ian will also be missed and fondly remembered by his many friends in the Southridge Church community, (where he dedicated his life to Christ and was baptized in 2007). He was forever thankful for the support he received and the friendships he made in this community. He became a mentor to many, in return for the gratitude that he felt. He also became a familiar face, over the years at bible studies, retreats and men's coffee hours.
Born in Salsburgh, Scotland, Ian and his small family immigrated to Canada in 1973, where his daughter Lee-Ann was later born. The majority of Ian's working life was spent as a toolmaker. He became a foreman with Monesco Aerospace, making landing gear for aircraft. He was passionate about golf, soccer (or football, as it is known in Scotland), watching his son Scott play hockey and his daughter, Lee-Ann play ringette. Ian's heart was filled, when, many years later, he was able to attend Scott's baptism.
A Celebration of Life Service will take place on Thursday May 8th, 2025, at 2:00 pm at Southridge Community Church, with visitation preceding the service from 1:00 - 2:00 pm.
Donations may be made, In Ian's name to Southridge Community Church Shelter, if desired.
