Oleksandra Timofeyeva

Obituary of Oleksandra Timofeyeva

Oleksandra Timofeyeva passed away peacefully at home in Niagara Falls, Ontario on Friday, March 28, 2025 at the age of 76. Widowed for more than 18 years. Cherished mother to Victoria Batechko. Proud grandmother of Alla Kuzmenko and Simon Batechko. Humble great grandmother of Aaron and Leo. Dear sister to Yevgenia Guk. And long time friend to Hanna Svincicka, Pasha Krivushenko, Alla Sternichuk etc. She was the best of friends to them at all times, ready to listen, to give and to share. People would call her "Lesia" as an affectionate form of the name Oleksandra in her native tongue.

Oleksandra lived a bright life full of love towards her kin, friends, colleagues and all people she met along her path of life. Since her childhood, Lesia cherished her dream to become a teacher because she loved children. She understood their language, could read their minds as a talented teacher, and was very successful in communicating with them for their benefits. Oleksandra started her passionate dedication to children from working as a teacher in one of Ukrainian schools when she was just 19 years old. Lesia worked 22 years as a teacher in Ukraine, and she became an enterprener in 1990, when she first designed and made a wedding dress for her only daughter Victoria. It was a beginning of a new adventure for her yet another passion - creating and making beautiful wedding dresses and accessories, which led her to becoming an owner of wedding salon. For 30 years Lesia was taking care of hundreds and hundreds of brides in Ukraine by helping them look incomparable in their wedding gowns. Local newspapers called her a "Cinderella" for her abilities and her talents to create masterpieces out of fabrics during the course of one single night when situations were urgent, circumstances unpredictable or plans alternated at the weddings under her care. Lesia is seated at her most glorius wedding supper in heaven right now and forever, along with her friends and her kin, who had left for heaven before her, and with Jesus Christ:

6. Then I heard what seemed to be the voice of a great multitude, like the roar of many waters and like the sound of mighty peals of thunder, crying out, “Hallelujah! For the Lord our God the Almighty reigns.

7. Let us rejoice and exult and give him the glory, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and his Bride has made herself ready;

8. it was granted her to clothe herself with fine linen, bright and pure”—for the fine linen is the righteous deeds of the saints.

9. And the angel said to me, “Write this: Blessed are those who are invited to the marriage supper of the Lamb.” And he said to me, “These are the true words of God.” Revelation 19:6-9.

In October 2020, Oleksandra came to Canada to visit her daughter and her grandchildren. Little did she know that it was going to be her last destination to enjoy her life on the Earth. Not only did she enjoy, but she was also an encouragement for others, when people who knew her needed this most. Lesia was a dedicated christian in her Ukrainian Baptist Evangelical Church. Patient, wise and tender, she was a role model for believers of all generations. She led a life of prayer and dedication to God by being faithful to the Word of God and taking care of the needs of people who surrounded her. Her two-year's battle with cancer was concluded with the triumph of life in eternity beside our Lord Jesus Christ, by courageous and relentless Lesia, who loved this life on earth with all her golden heart in humbleness, self-sacrifice and wisdom.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at Grand River Cancer Center in Kitchener, as well as at Walker Family Cancer Centre in St. Catharines for their dedicated support. Many thanks to the staff of the Ontario Health at Home and Niagara Health Centre.
