Obituary of Rosa Celetti
Rosa Celetti died peacefully on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, at Henley House She was an amazing 99 years old. Her passing has left a void in the hearts of her family, friends, and many more whose lives were touched by her. We ask that you remember her not for the way her life ended, but for the way it was lived, and for the profound impact it had on the lives of those who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Rosa is preceded in death by her loving husband Angelo. She is survived by her children, Annette (John) Inneo, Lucy (Greg) Ballentine and Michael (Tina) Celetti. Forever cherished and remembered by her 9 grandchildren Patrick, Andy, Clarie, Devon, Alexandra, Cameron, Olivia, Maya, Paige and 3 great grandchildren James John, Francesca, and Giovanni. Rosa was predeceased by her father, Nicola, her mother, Lucia and her brother Angelo.
She was born in Italy and grew up in the town of Bisaccia Avellino. She immigrated to Canada in 1957 with her two daughters where she joined Angelo who had immigrated before her to begin their new life together in St. Catharines. Together they were part of building the new backbone of the country through hard work and raising a family in a community of other Italian immigrants. Some of her greatest joys came from her 3 children and many grandchildren and great grand children. They created many memories during their Sunday afternoon family meals and celebrations. Rosa had many working roles throughout her life. But her favorite was her time working for Beaver Foods at Ridley college with a number of her friends. She would always have stories about her time at the college and her interaction with the students.
Rosa had great skills in crocheting and knitting and created many works of art including doilies, slippers and sweaters; however her real passion was cooking for her family and canning tomatoes until the ripe age of 96. She had very strong family values and was well liked by everyone, mostly due to her sweet nature and high energy. One of the highlights of Rosa’s day was to connect with her “sister network”. daily calls to check in with news, updates and support with Lina, Joanne and Josephine.
There are no words that can express how blessed we have been and how grateful we are to all of our relatives who were there for her and our family. Also a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Henley House and all the care they provided.
The Family will receive friends at the George Darte Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, 585 Carlton Street on Friday, March 28th from 2-4 & 6-8pm. Vigil prayers at 3pm.
