Obituary of Geraldine Pogoda
It is with sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Geraldine “Gerry” Pogoda (nee Ciupak) on Friday, March 7th surrounded by her loving family and in the comfort of her own home. In her 90th year, Gerry is now reunited with her beloved husband of more than 54 years, Frank Pogoda and her son Joe. Cherished mother to MaryLou (Christian) Lorenzen, Vicky (Randy) Woolridge, Mitch (Deborah) Pogoda. Adored Nana of Henry (Danella), Ellen (Kyle), Jack (Natalie), Frank, Rachel, Robin (Dan), Joe, Katie, Laura, and Audrey; Great-Nana to Charlotte and Vienna. Survived by her brother Norm (Lorraine) Ciupak and predeceased by her brother Lawrence Ciupak. Also survived by her sisters-in-law, Stella, Jennie and Teresa including many nieces and nephews.
She was the consummate hostess who was never happier than when she was making meals, sharing recipes, painting portraits, knitting and gardening. Her true passion in life was her 9 Wonders of her World, her grandchildren and her “greats”.
We wish to give special thanks to her friends, Alice, Tanja, Vi and many others who were of great support to her.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted with GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL HOME, 585 Carlton St. St. Catharines. The family welcomes guests for a time of visitation at the funeral home on the evening of Friday, March 14 2025 from 6:00 – 8:00pm. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, March 15 2025 in the funeral home ceremony room beginning at 9:00am with burial to follow at Victoria Lawn Cemetery. If desired, please consider memorial donations to March of Dimes in honour of Gerry.
