Obituary for Walter Ledwez
It is with heavy hearts, that we announce the passing of, Walter Ledwez, who was called home to be with His Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on March 1st, 2025, at the age of 85. He passed peacefully, surrounded by his loved ones, leaving behind a legacy of faith, strength, love, a strong work ethic, and a dedication to serving others.
Walter Ledwez was born on December 6th, 1939, in NeuSoensec, a German community in the Ukraine, to parents, Antonie and Herbert Ledwez. He grew up with a strong Christian Faith that guided him throughout his life. He was a devoted husband to Gertrude (Schultz) Ledwez, a loving father to Donald (Maureen), Kenneth (Dawn), and Larry (Lori), and cherished grandfather to Alexander (Shannon), Braeden (Melissa), Nickolas (Tessa), Nelson (Kelsey), Kendra (Peter), Madeline (Mackenzie), Richard (Sarah), Kylee (Isaac), Brittany, Jacob, Zoe (Luke), and Georgia Starr, 13 Great Grandchildren, with many more to come. Lovingly remember by his brother Harry (Marg) and sister Erika, predeceased by his sisters Lena and Gerda.
A faithful servant of God, Walter was an active member of Central Community Church, where he found great joy in worship and community. He lived his life as a reflection of Christ’s love, always offering a helping hand, a kind word, and unwavering support to those around him.
Throughout his life, Walter found purpose in a life-long career in the construction industry, specializing in Masonry, and volunteer work with various missions, where he always carried himself, with wisdom, integrity and dedication. His warm heart, wise counsel, and infectious smile, will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Though we grieve his passing, we take comfort in knowing that he is now in the presence of his Lord and Savior, reunited with those who have gone before him. His faith assures us that we will see him again in God’s eternal kingdom.
Visitation will be on March 7th, from 1pm-3pm and 6pm-8pm. A celebration of Walter’s life will be held on March 8th at 11am -12pm with lunch and refreshments to follow. Internment to follow, for family only.
