VERGALITO, Roberto“The Pizza Dude” was suddenly taken away on Monday September 30th, 2019 at the age of 48. Adored husband and soul mate of his angel Francesca (nee Infurna), absolutely incredible father of Sebastian and Allegra. Beautiful, “sonny-boy” of Vilma and the late Pasquale (Pat) Vergalito. Loving brother and best friend to his hoochie-sis Nadia. Special son-in-law of Anthony and Josie Infurna. Brother-in-law (Billy) to Joseph and Shari Infurna and caring uncle of Chandler and Anthony. He is survived by many relatives in Italy and Kansas City who will miss him dearly. Roberto had a great love for life and everyone he met. He inspired kindness and generosity wherever he went. Born and raised in St Catharines, he served at St. Alfred’s Roman Catholic Church. He graduated from HolyCrossSecondary School, and attended the University of Missouri at Kansas City and NiagaraCollege. Roberto was a certified pizza chef and shared his passion for creating amazing food and took great satisfaction in filling people’s hearts and bellies. Roberto was a Lamba Chi Brother. He owned his pizzeria and served the community since 1997. He was an author for Canadian Pizza Magazine and Roberto was the first person to be invited to make pizza for The Prime Minister of Canada Stephen Harper in caucus. Roberto served as National Coordinator for Patronato Enasco, assisting the Italian community. The Pizza Dude was the founder of Facer District Merchants and Residents Association, the founder of The Facer European Festival and most recently, The Pizza Dude was the recipient of the Guinness World Records for The Longest Calzone. The family will receive visitors at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL HOME, 585 Carlton Street, St. Catharines on Friday, October 4th from and . Vigil prayers will be said at 3:30pm Friday. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Alfred's Roman Catholic Church at 9:30am on Saturday October 5th, 2019. Entombment at VictoriaLawnCemetery to follow.
