Obituary of Miranda Montague

MONTAGUE, MIRANDA LEIGH (nee McCausland)

January 24, 1977 ~ November 22, 2017

Our sweet Miranda, 40 years young, passed away peacefully at Hospice Niagara, surrounded by her family in a room filled with love.  Miranda bravely battled a brain tumour for five years. She will forever live in the hearts of all who love her; her loving husband and best friend Matthew and their beautiful children, Kyleigh and Brady; her loving parents Judy McCausland and Neil McCausland (Jan); her adoring brother and sisters and their spouses Rob and Lisa McCausland, Tamara and Shawn Williams and Melinda and Ron Dackiw; grandmother Margaret Holder; loving daughter-in-law of Mike and Linda Montague; and sister and brother-in-law Melissa and RD Lacroix; her cherished nieces and nephews Dyson, Dylana, Tucker, Arianna, Colton, Griffin, and Sophie; many aunts, uncles and cousins; special friends Mags, Ivan, Emily and Robert; her best friends Jackie and Laurie; and Miranda’s Daycare Munchkins and their parents. She is predeceased by her Grandpa Holder, Grandma and Grandpa McCausland, and her Braver than Brave nephew Tucker Williams. Throughout her surgeries, years of chemotherapy, and multiple radiation treatments, Miranda maintained her wonderful sense of humour, amazing strength, and unwavering bravery. She never felt sorry for herself and in true Miranda fashion, was always taking care of those around her, blessing us with her beautiful smile, bright eyes, and infectious giggle.  Although Miranda always contended that her nephew Tucker was her strength, she was also the epitome of strength.  Miranda and Tucker will always be our inspiration to live more, laugh more, and love more. We would like to extend our sincerest thanks to the compassionate and caring people who took care of Miranda over the last five years: Dr. Michael Torigian, Miranda’s Oncology Team at Juravinski Cancer Centre and Hamilton General Hospital, the staff at Niagara Health (SCS), CCAC, and the angelic staff at Hospice Niagara who cared for Miranda in her final days.  Many thanks as well to all of our family and friends for your overwhelming love and support throughout Miranda’s journey. Miranda’s loved ones will welcome family and friends at GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL HOME, 585 Carlton St., on Saturday, November 25 from 6-8 p.m. and Sunday, November 26 from 1-3 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. A Celebration of Miranda’s Life will be held at Southridge Community Church, 201 Glenridge Ave., on Monday, November 27 at 10 a.m. Donations to Hospice Niagara, The Tucker Williams Braver than Brave Memorial Fund through Sick Kids Foundation (https://www.sickkidsdonations.com/registrant/FundraisingPage.aspx?RegistrationID=3652481#&panel1-1), Juravinski Cancer Centre Foundation, or to an Education Fund for Kyleigh and Brady would be greatly appreciated.
