Obituary of Marie Terese Laughlin

LAUGHLIN, Marie Terese (nee Donnelly)

Died peacefully on Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at the age of 87. Marie was predeceased by her husband Peter. She is survived by her children Marie (Joe), Anne, Claire, Andrew (Nadine) and Suzanne (Jeff) as well as her grandchildren Andrew (Caroline), Lisa (Ryan), Michael, David, Jeffrey, Jennifer, Erin and Zachary and two great grandchildren, Nicholas and Sebastian. Since coming to Canada in 1968, Marie spent her time caring for her family and working at the St. Catharines X-ray Centre. Marie's real passion was soccer!! She played, coached many teams and served as Treasurer for the St. Catharines Girls Soccer Association. Marie volunteered for more than 25 years with Save the Children Canada. Family and friends will be received at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton St., St. Catharines on Friday, June 2 from 7-9 p.m. Vigil prayers will be recited in the funeral home on Friday at 7 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Star of the Sea Roman Catholic Church, 34 Elgin St., St. Catharines on Saturday, June 3 at 9 a.m. Rite of Committal to follow at Victoria Lawn Cemetery.Following the interment, a reception will be held at the funeral home in the Kristen French Fellowship Hall. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Save the Children Canada. Thanks to the staff of Royal Henley and Henley House who cared for Marie over the past few years.
