Peacefully passed away, with family by his side, on Thursday, May 4, 2017 at the St. Catharines Hospital at the age of 89. Predeceased by his parents Giuseppe & Francesca and his sister Anna Burgio. Beloved husband of Giovanna for 60 years. Loving father of Franca (Sam), Joe (Cindy), Lilla (Mimo). Cherished Nonno of Martino (Kathy), Ignazio, Jeffery (Dayana), John (Melissa), Angela, Paul (Xochil) & Giovanna. Great Nonno to Ayla. Ignazio will be sadly missed by his brother in law Alfonso & his brother John (Carmela), as well as sister in laws and brother in laws in New York and Europe. Nieces & nephews will mourn His loss in their lives. A special thank you to Emily & Jennifer, as well as Heidehof for their loving care. The family will receive visitors at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton St., on Sunday, May 7, 2017 from 2-4 and 7-9. Vigil Prayers will take place Sunday at 7:30 p.m. in the funeral home. A Funeral Liturgy will be held at St. Alfred's Roman Catholic Church, 272 Vine St., on Monday, May 8, 2017 at 11am. A Rite of Committal will follow Mass at Pleasantview Memorial Gardens, Hwy 20, Fonthill. Memorial donations may be made to COPD & Lung Association would be appreciated by the family.
