Obituary of Gary Michael Carr

CARR, Gary Michael Passed away with family by his side on Monday, September 26, 2016 at the age of 80. Beloved husband to Jackie for 59 years. Much loved father of James (Tracy) and Sheila Carr (Duane Singer). Devoted grandpa of Sean, Ryan (Isabel), Liam and Danial. Predeceased by his siblings Joan Albon and Donnie Carr. Gary will be remembered for his devotion to his family, especially his support of his grandsons' sporting endeavours. Known for his athleticism, he was recently inducted into the Ontario Lacrosse Hall of Fame. Gary worked at General Motors for 41 years and was a longtime parishioner of Star of the Sea Parish. He will be missed by his many dear friends, especially on the golf course. The family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff at Linhaven and at NHS-St. Catharines for their care and compassion. Family and friends will be received at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton St., St. Catharines on Wednesday, September 28 from 6-8 p.m. Vigil prayers will be recited in the funeral home on Wednesday at 7 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Star of the Sea Roman Catholic Church, 34 Elgin St., St. Catharines on Thursday, September 29 at 12 p.m. Cremation to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Friends of Linhaven or the Parkinson Society.
