Obituary of Kathryn Nadia Hryb

HRYB, Kathryn Nadia Passed away August 16, 2016 in her 61st year after a very brief battle with cancer. She is survived by her daughter Tamara (Derek) Martin, son Gregory (Kathryn) McCool, and her grandson Isaac McCool. She leaves behind her sister Mary and niece Emily. Kathryn grew up in the Ukrainian community in St. Catharines and was a chorister, dancer and Plast member while growing up. She was a graduate of Western University and received her teaching certificate from Brock University. She found her niche as a Career Counsellor and worked at Niagara College and in the private sector before her final position as a Senior Career Advisor at McMaster University where she enjoyed working for many years. It was her passion to help students to find their way and plan for their future careers. Kathryn was an avid photographer, loved cooking, was active in recovery and a friend of Bill W. Kathryn's family will receive visitors at the George Darte Funeral Chapel, 585 Carlton Street on Sunday, August 21st from 2pm to 4pm and 7pm to 9pm. A ceremony to celebrate her life will be held in the funeral home chapel on Monday, August 22nd at 11:30am. Burial will follow at Victoria Lawn Cemetery. If desired, memorial donations to the Lung Association would be appreciated by the family.
