Obituary of Soo Seto

SETO, Soo Surrounded by his loving family, Soo Seto died peacefully on Saturday, July 23, 2016 at the NHS –St. Catharines Site. He will be deeply missed by his wife, Lily, daughter, Vicki (Chris) and sons, Ted and Rick (Maria); his granddaughters Sydney and Abigail and his mother, Ho Sin Yu. Soo will be remembered by his brother Wai Yin Seto, sisters, Hing Szeto and So-Wah Seto Chu (Kui-Sing); his nieces Kit Chu (Naz), Wendy Liu (Tak), Alice Chu (Stuart) and nephew, Ian Chu. Soo was born in Guangzhou, China in 1937, and immigrated to Canada at the tender age of 12 with his grandmother. He started his career in the restaurant business at the family run Maple Leaf Café, but spent the bulk of his working life at the Rice Bowl. He later owned his own restaurant in Niagara Falls. An avid fisherman and Toronto Blue Jays and Maple Leafs fan, albeit a disappointed one, Soo enjoyed the company of his family and home cooked dinners made from the heart. Visitation will take place at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton St., on Thursday, July 28, 2016 from 7-9 p.m. A Celebration of Soo’s Life will be held at in the funeral home chapel on Friday, July 29, 2016 at 10 a.m. A Burial will take place following the service at Victoria Lawn Cemetery, Queenston St. Memorial donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario or the Canadian Cancer Society.
